  • FIFA Rivals will be available on both Apple and Android devices.

FIFA Rivals is planned for a global release on mobile for users in Q2 of this year, sparking interest in the web3 gaming sector. The game is expected to launch in June alongside the actual FIFA Club World Cup which begins on the 14th of June 2025. However, a pre-release for the game is set for May of 2025.

What Could the Web3 Game Mechanics Entail?

While information regarding the web3 mechanics is currently scarce, a previous venture of Mythical Games, NFL Rivals, may offer some hints. NFL Rivals offered the ability to own and trade in-game assets in the form of players. NFL Rivals also previously released digital collectibles that enabled owners to acquire tickets to a previous FIFA World Cup final.

Further Information

FIFA Games have always been a much-loved gaming franchise, though it’s best known for being a console game developed by EA Games. However, with the launch of FIFA Rivals through Mythical Games, this will be a different experience tailored towards mobile users. While many players may prefer console, mobile offers a more widely available experience on a global level.

There are major plans to integrate into the FIFA esports platform to give players in every country the ability to become a participant or fan.

The Wider Scope of Web3 Gaming

Web3 gaming has seen a lacklustre performance over recent years, as interest in the sector has dwindled from the initial hype and speculation of 2021.

However, one hit game could renew interest in the sector relatively quickly. Whether FIFA Rivals holds the potential to be such a game remains to be seen.

Games such as Axie Infinity were highly popular many years ago as they enabled users to earn a living through its play-to-earn mechanics. More recently, Off The Grid stirred some renewed interest in crypto gaming.
