Europe’s Largest Asset Manager Amundi Tokenises Stock Index Fund on Ethereum
- Amundi launched a digital share class of its Core STOXX Europe 600 fund on Ethereum, allowing blockchain-based ownership of units in an established equity fund.
- Developed with CACEIS, the new structure operates alongside conventional investment channels and does not involve buying cryptocurrencies or individual tokenised stocks.
- Blockchain technology could streamline processing and transfers, although faster settlement and direct wallet transfers have not been confirmed.
- The launch follows Amundi’s tokenised money market initiatives and EURXT stablecoin settlement trial, with further blockchain-based funds planned for professional investors.
Holding a traditional stock market fund could one day work more like holding other digital assets. That is the direction Europe’s largest asset manager, Amundi, is exploring with its latest investment product.
The Paris-based firm has introduced a new digital share class for its Amundi Core STOXX Europe 600 fund, using Ethereum to record ownership of fund units.
The underlying investment remains the same: a fund following an index of 600 European businesses, ranging from smaller companies to some of the continent’s biggest names.
Unlike buying cryptocurrencies, investors aren’t purchasing Ethereum or individual digital versions of those stocks. They’re investing in an established fund, but through a different system for recording ownership.
What Changes for Investors?
The new arrangement was developed with CACEIS, which provides the technology needed to issue and manage the digital fund units. Amundi hasn’t replaced the existing fund structure, meaning investors can still access the product through its usual channels.
The potential advantages come from how transactions are handled behind the scenes. Blockchain technology could reduce manual processing, make transfers quicker and allow investment platforms to manage certain transactions automatically.
But there are limitations. Amundi hasn’t explained whether the new product already offers faster settlement or whether investors will be able to transfer their holdings directly between personal wallets.

Part of a Bigger Blockchain Strategy
Amundi’s interest in blockchain goes beyond this latest fund. In November 2025, the company introduced its first tokenised share class of a money market fund, also using Ethereum.
In June 2026, Amundi and CACEIS announced the launch of tokenised money market fund units developed for payment technology firm Ant International, aimed at making it easier for the company to manage cash across its operations.
A month later, CACEIS introduced EURXT, a euro-backed stablecoin, and demonstrated how it could be used to pay for an investment in an Amundi money market fund.
The latest development brings a different type of investment into the picture: equities rather than short-term cash products.
Amundi intends to introduce further blockchain-based fund offerings, particularly for professional investors and digital platforms.
For now, the launch shows how Ethereum could increasingly operate behind familiar financial products, even when the investments themselves have little to do with crypto.
