  • Wilder World, an Ethereum-powered metaverse project, has released its second major game mode, a high-intensity first- and third-person shooter, at Gamescom.
  • The new shooter, available on the Epic Games Store, is part of a phased rollout to refine individual game modes before a full open-world metaverse launch planned for early 2026.
  • To promote the new mode, Wilder World is hosting a $100,000 tournament with online qualifiers and a live final, demonstrating the project’s focus on creating a photorealistic, next-gen gaming experience.

Wilder World rolled out its second major game mode on Wednesday, debuting a high-intensity shooter in “super early access” at Gamescom.

The Ethereum-powered metaverse project, already known for its racing title Wilder Wheels launched with Lamborghini last year, is using standalone releases to build momentum toward a full open-world launch in 2026.

The new release is a 10-player deathmatch, available on PC via Epic Games Store, that shifts between first- and third-person perspectives.

At the center of the experience is Wiami, a neon-lit, Miami-inspired megacity where players, known as Wilders, compete across multiple game modes, including high-speed racing (Wilder Wheels), first-person combat, large-scale strategy, exploration, and resource extraction.

The platform’s economy runs on WILD, an ERC-20 governance token that allows users to vote on project proposals and rule-making through a DAO structure. The token surged over 47% in the last month, according to CoinGecko data.

The game is built on photorealism and VR integration, as the devs want to frame and market it closer to a next-gen video game than a niche Web3 experiment, targeting a fully open metaverse release by early 2026 (with standalone modes refined and rolled out in advance).

Beyond gameplay, Wilder World layers in social and creative dimensions that allow players to build, trade, and customise assets, from avatars to real estate.

$100K Tournament

To drive engagement, Wilder World is staging a $100,000 tournament. Online qualifiers will run from August 25 through September 9, followed by playoffs and a live final on September 24. Five finalists will be flown to the undisclosed venue with expenses covered.

Co-founder and executive producer n3o said the staged rollout is designed to sharpen mechanics before merging everything into the broader metaverse. “Launching individual modes first allows us to refine gameplay mechanics at a world-class level before bringing everything together into the open world,” they told Decrypt.

Wilder World raised over US$30M (AU$46M) following the 2021 launch of its WILD token, which hit an all-time high of US$7.44 (AU$11.58) in its first six months.
