The Play Solana Gen1 (PSG1) is Solana’s official first handheld gaming device, and of course, it’s specifically designed for blockchain-based games on its network.
The console’s release follows the launch of the Seeker phone, announced on the same date. The phone is designed with Web3 and blockchain capabilities, allowing users to explore decentralised applications on Solana.

The PSG1 marks Solana’s deeper involvement in the gaming industry, bringing web3 gaming to dedicated hardware.
The console was officially introduced on September 19 by Play Solana, receiving positive comments from the community. The preorder details will be disclosed at the Solana Breakpoint Conference in Singapore on September 20 – 21.
Moreover, the device is expected to deliver instant transactions, low-latency gameplay, and easy asset management —all integrated within the Solana ecosystem.
Players holding the Player 1 NFT will have priority and discounted access to PSG1 preorders. These NFT holders will also enjoy early updates and participate in community initiatives within the Play Solana ecosystem, further solidifying Solana’s focus on community engagement.
Solana Does Not Give Up on Smartphones
You probably don’t know a single person who has bought a Solana smartphone (and you can’t blame them). But Solana doesn’t care. They’re going full-swing into making more smartphones with better capabilities for Web3 users.
Seeker is Solana’s second-generation web3 smartphone, following the release of the Solana Saga. The Seeker is set for launch in 2025, with over 140,000 pre-orders already placed across 57 countries.
The phone will integrate a specialised crypto wallet, designed to work seamlessly with the phone’s partitioned Seed Vault for key storage, making crypto transactions easier and more secure compared to the Saga.
It’s also less expensive, as it seems Solana is focusing on making this model more affordable and accessible compared to the Saga. It’s priced at US$450 (AU$659) for early founders during the presale period, which ends on September 21, 2024.
