  • Dogecoin (DOGE) leads as the top gainer among the top ten cryptocurrencies, outshining Bitcoin and Ethereum with a 6% daily and 15% weekly increase.
  • Speculation abounds in the crypto community that Dogecoin might be used for Tesla Cybertruck payments.
  • Several reasons could be responsible for the surge, coinciding with DOGE’s tenth birthday.

DOGE Biggest Gainer in Top Ten

Dogecoin (DOGE) has seen an impressive rally in the past few days, outperforming all other cryptos in the top ten, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). The meme coin which claims the throne amongst its peers has gained almost 6% in the past 24 hours and an impressive 15% in the past week.

Cybertruck Rumours

After the release of the Tesla Cybertruck, given Elon Musk’s affinity for DOGE, the crypto community on social platform X has been buzzing with anticipation of the possibilities for Dogecoin. Although no official statement has been made at the time of writing, many hope that DOGE will be incorporated in some form into the payments for the new truck. This is fuelled by a recent re-tweet by Musk of a post by DogeDesigner, which has been viewed 3.5 million times.

Meme poster @itsALLrisky, with over 341k followers, revealed that there are several hints, 50 to be precise, mentioning DOGE on the Cybertruck payments page. Additionally, the term ‘Dogecoin’ was mentioned 30 times. This has led many to speculate that an announcement about Dogecoin payments is imminent.

To The Moon – For the Love of DOGE

Elon Musk is known for his love of memes and DOGE, and for his aims to turn X into an everything app including payments. While nothing on this front has eventuated yet, the mission to the moon is on track, quite literally.

In its most recent update the official Dogecoin account revealed that Astrobotic, the company involved in the ULA Vulcan Centaur Rocket moon mission, will send a physical Dogecoin to the moon.

And there is another moon mission involving the original meme coin – Elon Musk’s own Doge-1 mission is scheduled for January 2024, although it has been postponed before, so we will see how this plays out.

Perhaps the moon missions and the Cybertruck rumours are enough to explain the Dogecoin price to have launched its own interstellar mission. Or perhaps it’s the tenth birthday of the original meme coin that has investors excited – either way – happy birthday dogecoin!
