IRITA: Setting new performance records in China

IRITA, the enterprise-focused blockchain framework, built using the Interchain Stack, has once again been acknowledged for its prowess in the Trusted Blockchain Initiatives(TBI) Performance and Functionality tests.

Conducted by the China Telecommunication Technology Labs (CTTL), passing the TBI tests is a key requirement for onboarding large businesses and enterprises in China to the interchain ecosystem.

This is the second time that IRITA passed the TBI tests. Since passing the test for the first time in 2021, the team significantly improved IRITA’s performance — this time, setting new records for the blockchain utilizing CometBFT(Tendermint) consensus.

Passing the test, while breaking the performance records (measured in transactions per second), demonstrates once again the suitability of the Interchain Stack in powering large scale, enterprise blockchains.

Revolutionizing Performance with CometBFT

The Trusted Blockchain Initiatives’ Performance Evaluation is designed to check how reliably blockchain technologies perform under high-stress usage. The tests encompass five key areas: System Fundamentals, Stress Tests, Peak Impact Scenarios, Long-term Stability, and Query Performance.

Leveraging the interchain’s consensus engine — CometBFT — together with custom optimizations by the team at Bianjie, IRITA has unlocked unparalleled performance capabilities.

IRITA achieved a 100% success rate across all five areas, and even set some new highs:

  • Processed 13,991 transactions per second (TPS) in high-concurrency Stress Tests
  • Reached 27,956 TPS in Peak Impact Tests
  • Achieved a maximum query performance of 37,693 queries per second (QPS)

In the Functionality Evaluation, the TBI rigorously tested IRITA’s capabilities across 15 major areas and 52 specific items, including network configuration, dynamic node management, and secure data storage and transmission. Thanks to the robust modular framework and interoperability enabled by the Interchain Stack, IRITA surpassed all evaluation criteria with flying colors.

The Trusted Blockchain Initiatives (TBI)

Conducted by the China Telecommunication Technology Labs (CTTL), these tests hold great domestic authority and are held in high esteem internationally.

The TBI scheme has been running for over 5 years and has thus far rigorously tested and certified several of China’s prominent technology providers, including China Mobile, Tencent, Webank and AntChain, ZTE Corporation.

Founded in 1957, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) is a scientific institute directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China.

The Trusted Blockchain Initiatives conducted by CAICT is the earliest and most representative evaluation system for blockchain products in China. It was initiated in 2017 and has provided evaluation services to more than 180 blockchain entities over the past six years.
