A Web3 security firm announced the successful recovery of 36 Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and 18 Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) NFTs, following a coordinated effort by their team working overtime over the weekend.

Complex Structure to Keep NFTs Safe from Hackers

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Boring Security acknowledged the complexity of self-custody in decentralized finance.

They emphasized that while Ethereum (ETH) developers have made strides in creating user-friendly abstraction layers, the intricacies of managing one’s digital assets remain challenging.

“As we finish up getting these apes back to their rightful owners, I just want to give a huge shoutout to the team for working overtime this weekend to come together on this.”

The post stressed the ongoing importance of understanding the underlying mechanisms of web3, despite the anticipation of improved user interfaces in the coming years.
